bigLITTLE
Week 13 - March 26-April 1, 2023
Something to Love
Love your siblings, chosen siblings and chosen family. It washed over me the second I stepped into the tasting room.
When I first moved to TC in 2015, someone pointed out to me that all of bigLITTLE’s wines were named for things that the co-founding siblings loved about their childhood: Tire Swing, Mix Tape, Dune Climb. I share every one of these memories with my siblings, both bio (2), chosen (1), and married into (5), which probably means bigLITTLE's founders are the same age as us and that our childhoods were similar. I felt like this winery knows about me and I feel special here. As if to prove my point, the music was as follows:
Solsbury Hill followed by Blues Traveler and someone covering the Dead's "Touch of Grey" - many of my siblings love to sing, perform, and karaoke these songs
Piano Man - me and my brother; my husband's family also loves Billy Joel
A Bob Marley song - only to be sure my chosen sister is definitely included
Wallflowers One Headlight - No one likes this song anymore except me and my sister
Summary
BigLITTLE is set in the grownups version of a treehouse and I won’t spoil its magic by saying anything more.

Something to Do
Learn about the winemaking methods listed on the menu as part of the wine description. I haven’t seen anything this technical before, and it was easy to go down several rabbit holes like "what is cluster pressed" and "viggor." The wine steward shared a bit about the locations of the vineyards throughout the County, as the vineyards on-property are exclusively Mawby.
Something to Hope For
I visited bigLITTLE on Palm Sunday - equally the most hopeful and depressing day of the year for Christians. I don't attend church regularly but I wanted to attend the Palm Sunday service with my parents and 4-year old daughter. I am deeply moved by today's message of hope for a less violent and more inclusive world and society, and by the minister's willingness to crouch down to daughter height to administer the sacrament and bless her. I hope all of this for our world and my family, and especially thinking of all 8 of my siblings and wanting this for them and their families.
