Black Star Farms OMP
Week 18 - April 30-May 6, 2023
Something to Love
Let's not overcomplicate things. I love that this winery is somewhere I could pop in to visit winding down a workday that had me taking a webinar from the nearby NMC Dennos Museum Parking Lot and then being able to wind down on my way home without going too far out of the way.Β
Summary
Black Star Farms is the only winery that has vines and tasting rooms on both Old Mission Peninsula and in Leelanau County. The OMP location is super close to town. They are known for their "Arcturos" brand which graces the labels of the single varietal bottles, while the Black Star Farms name is on mostly blends. This location feels like the satellite to the Mother Ship of Sutton's Bay but I can't say for sure because I had never vistited either one until this week. (Edit: Yes, see more about this in Week 19).

Something to Hope For
I hope that more wineries, businesses, people, cultures, and institutions can value, embrace, and espouse inclusion. Black Star Farms OMP sets a high bar with their example. I also hope that I can come here sometime when it isn't pouring rain, so that I can get better pictures of the exterior.
