W21 May - Brengman Brothers

My kid is getting tangled up with Bacchus

I literally hate anywhere that doesn't provide bag hooks. Thank you!

The views are sprawling and if you zoom in on that gap in the trees, you can see OMP.

Something to Love

Many wineries in the region have a sense of humor, and I am really grateful for that. Brengman Brothers have a sense of humor that feels authentic and not new. I have to disclose that I have some friend connections to this winery and so this visit goes off book a bit. But I don't think that my friendship with a friend of a friend who is a family member, or the fact that another friend works here, compromises the sharing of their strong and unique humor (I can't, and don't review the wines).

Brengman Brothers have German roots and plant plenty of German varieties, like of course Riesling and Gewertztraminer. Their White and Red flagship blends play up on this German heritage, titling them both, "Dagüdscht" white and red. It is disguised enough to stump my mother in law who speaks some German as a second language, working out the phonics and context clues present in German. It sounded like a real word to her and I suppose it is, but when you sound it out the joke slash prize is on you if this is what you order.

Something to do

Ice cream flight! Super delightful for our party of all ages. We had a Basil, Lemon, and Lychee ice creams. The consensu was the Lemon was the best, but the Basil + Riesling (grape) was the most interesting and best for adventurous eaters. It was really cool to have this tasting experience that could include everyone, and it was beyond exciting for my daughter to wait for her ice cream flight.

Wines

I am not able to review the wines because my friend who works here surprised us and bought at least 3 bottles of the Sauvignon Blanc to share for our table. It is impossible to be objective when the wine is free. Having said that, I will just say that I think their Chardonnay is the absolute best in the region and it isn't close.
